It’s very sad. Our public health orders here have been extended for a month. No one outside our own household can come in, even outside, for gatherings. Masks in all public spaces. It is very necessary. I saw a comment today under the news of our extension of health orders, saying it was only xx number of people in the hospital and that it hardly seems worth all the trouble. But I’m sure the person would be singing a different tune if it was him or his family. All people count.

Anyone who says that is not taking care of the patients in the hospital. It’s not just that there are so many of them; they apparently require more intensive attention as well. No one who is working inside a hospital at the moment is saying “it’s no big deal.”

Definitely. I’m just always amazed at some of the comments on the Internet. To me, even not being in a hospital or long term care home, it seems like a pretty big deal.

I’ve become very suspicious of comments I see on the Internet, simply in the sense that I think there must be a lot of trolls / bots out there. There are suddenly a lot of FB profiles that have no identifying information and behave as if they have no online life outside of discussing politics and COVID.

But just about an hour ago, the owner of one of my favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurants sent me a FB friend request, and it turns out that his timeline suggests that he’s completely bought into the “election is rigged” and “COVID is a hoax” conspiracies. I haven’t been in the restaurant in months; I only do pickup / curbside. And there’s a real person and someone that I very much admire otherwise and … there it is.

I am in rage that all these lives are ending prematurely for nothing, to serve the ego of corrupt charlatan. May all who are mourning be comforted.

I’m sure a lot of them are bots. And a lot of others just like provoking people ’cause they find it funny. But then there are the others who truly believe it. It’s unfortunate when it’s someone that you otherwise respected.

I can understand the rage and I’m sure you are counting down the days.

And the added stress from the lockdown is causing problems in other areas. My son was recently diagnosed with depression and finding a provider for him within 100 miles has been a struggle because the youth mental health system is overwhelmed.
