All Roads Must End

A Very Funky Blue #RABlogReunion

Hey there, how yinz been? It’s good to see you! Thanks to Nat for organizing the shindig, and, of course, thanks to you for stopping by.  I actually went back and forth about participating — like, who cares what I’m doing? — but as we got closer to the day I decided I couldn’t not mark it.

I almost can’t believe it’s been years since I shuttered this place. I used to love writing here and cracking wise with all of you and I miss the silliness sometimes. I still love the limerick Zan and I wrote for Judiang, and the goofball pic spams, and SpReAding the Love. It was time, though.

I used to wonder how it would happen…would my admiration for Mr. A just fade away? Would he do something stupid? It was ultimately a combination of those things and, honestly, letting go of him was a relief. My fanship of him was a pleasure while it lasted. I kept the good — the true friends I made — and let the rest float off into the ether.

This is not to say that I’m done being a FAN, of course. The #SPNFamily has been kind to me. My prediction for the series finale is that the GHOST — GHOST FACERS will be the last ones standing but we’ll have to wait fall to find out.

As for what else I’m doing, on the off chance you do care, I work in long term care and am applying to nursing school. My oldest is headed off to college in the fall, my middle is an amazing artist, and my youngest is still figuring it all out. Sometimes it takes a while.

Thanks for being part of my figuring.

All the best,

Fandom Coda: A Close Encounter of the Tiny Kind

*Blows dust off the joint*

Hey there, how have you all been? I know, I’ve been out of touch and WAAAAY out of the loop but last night I got the chance to catch up with the fabulous Zan over dinner and I was feeling a little nostalgic. I told her a story that I hadn’t told anyone else because it was such a tiny moment but she and her husband both howled so I’m gonna just put it out there.

So, a bunch of us went to see Love, Love, Love in NYC one gorgeous weekend in November 2016. I hung out with the usual suspects (Zan, Judiang, Servetus, chazak, Guylty, Obscura, etc.) and watched the stagedoor madness on Saturday night from the side, not wanting to have a weird encounter that would mar the memory of hanging out with my friends. I saw him, after all, just not up close. No big.

The Universe had other ideas.

On Sunday I was walking toward the MegaBus pick up point and lo and behold who came loping toward me but a very familiar looking dude in a baseball cap. I kind of snickered because are you kidding? I watched him get closer and closer (like I was going to look away), fiddling with a cell phone and ear plugs as he zipped along the sidewalk. He and I were almost next to each other when he whipped his earbuds out and hissed, “Shit!” He looked over at me (read: a woman obviously older than he is), ducked his head sheepishly, and kept going. I snickered like the Bad Fan I am.

So that’s it, my one and only encounter with The Dude. I managed to not embarrass myself so I’d call that a win. 🙂

Have a lovely weekend!

This is the Song That Never Ends…

I’ve been debating what to do with the blog for a couple of months now and the events of this week have brought it home that it’s time for me to move on. I’m not removing it but I won’t be updating it as a fandom work. I will still be writing and if you’d like an invitation to that space either comment below or shoot me an email at

Thanks to all of you for reading and commenting over the years. It’s been my pleasure and my privilege to get to know so many of you.

This fandom, like most things, is what you make of it. Make it beautiful.

All the best,

What the Hell, Hero?

Seriously? What the fuck is wrong with you? Would it be possible, do you think, for you to choose a position and stick with it? I seem to remember that you’ve requested that your followers not swear on your Twitter because swears might sully the minds of poor innocents (I should remember, I got enough notes telling me to watch my potty mouth). Racial slurs are dandy, though? Come the fuck on. And no, there are no mitigating circumstances that make your retweet okay. You are not black, you are not young or naive, and, no, it doesn’t matter if Ms. Palmer has given you permission to use that word in private because Twitter is a public platform. You are an adult. Act like it.

International Women’s Day 2017

#CelebRAte Love: Armitage World Fandom Love 2017

I have always said that my favorite part of this fandom has been other fans, followed very closely by fan creativity. You all knock me out pretty regularly with whatever it is that you do, be it blogging or vidding, writing fic or tweeting snark. One of my favorite forms of fan art is, as far as I know, unique to Armitage World: the Richard Armitage Portable Shrine, each one lovingly handcrafted by our own Guylty. A couple of summers ago I was lucky enough to score a RAPS of my very own and as I was thinking about what to blog for this event it occurred to me that I’ve never shown any of you my prize. Ready?

I don’t remember when she put this up exactly but the theme of Hippie Flower Child Thorin Oakenshield was irresistible to me. I HAD to try for this one. I mean, really.

He’s perfect from his disco ball (for emergency parties) to his word magnets (for emergency poetries). The matching daisies just slay me, too, though hopefully the one on his sword is for love instead of war.

Thorin wasn’t alone in the package Guylty sent me, either. She also enclosed a framed and matted copy of my very favorite photo of The Dude, taken by Guylty herself at the Berlin premiere of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug.

There were a few other little things she added, too, but by far the one that means the most to me was the sweet note. Guylty’s creativity is warm because she is. She’s one of my favorite fans and I’m thrilled she’s still organizing events. Thanks for hosting us all, G, and for spReAding the love. 🙂
